In the period around the General Chapter 2018, two new publications were published: “A year in Father Triest’s footsteps” and “A month with Father Triest”.
Following the process of the beatification of our Founder, Peter Joseph Triest, a new booklet is published in four languages: Italian, English, Dutch, and French.
On Saturday 28 April, the general superiors of the three Triest congregations came together to discuss the course of the beatification process of the Servant of God Peter Joseph Triest.
On 28 April 2017, the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints has signed the decree which ‘affirms’ the Cause documents of the Servant of God Peter Joseph Triest, i.e. they have been approved for further content review. All 22,000 pages of the dossier were checked and found to be in compliance with the requirements of the statutory provisions for a beatification process. This is an important step forward for the Cause!
On Saturday 13 May 2017, the new Peter Joseph Triest Psychiatric Centre was inaugurated and consecrated in Kikwit, DR Congo.
On Saturday, 11 March 2017 we celebrated the 30th anniversary of Triest House, an initiative for the care of disadvantaged people in the city of Ghent.
The French-speaking associate members of the Brothers of Charity had their annual meeting in Dave, where Bro. René Stockman, Superior General of the Brothers of Charity, hosted a day of reflection on the charism of Father Triest, which everyone enjoyed.
In preparation for the first profession, the novices of the Brothers of Charity in Tabaco, the Philippines, attended a retreat on the charism of Father Triest.
A memorial to Father Triest was unveiled during a wonderful Eucharist at the chapel of the Brothers of Charity at Eikenburg.
