Peter Joseph Triest
An icon of charity
Following the process of the beatification of our Founder, Peter Joseph Triest, a new booklet was published in four languages: Italian, English, Dutch, and French.
The name Peter Joseph Triest sounds in all parts of the world today, in places where his religious Sisters and Brothers continue the service to which he called them more than 200 years ago. The care for people with mental illness, the support of children and adolescents with disabilities, the care of the elderly, the schooling and education of children, and the care for the poor and for people who society deems unworthy: these remain today’s preferred places for the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary, the Brothers of Charity, and the Sisters of the Childhood of Jesus.
With them, we take a walk through history and get to know the person who started it all: Peter Joseph Triest, a Belgian priest who lived from 1760 to 1836, who was dubbed the Belgian Vincent de Paul upon his death, whose process for beatification was initiated in 2001 and is now on the table at the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. Today, he can be called a true icon of charity.
