On 28 April 2017, the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints has signed the decree which ‘affirms’ the Cause documents of the Servant of God Peter Joseph Triest, i.e. they have been approved for further content review. All 22,000 pages of the dossier were checked and found to be in compliance with the requirements of the statutory provisions for a beatification process. This is an important step forward for the Cause!
The postulator, Dr. Waldery Hilgeman, was informed that he may start composing the Positio. This will be done in close cooperation with Bro. René Stockman, the beatification process promoter. The Positio will contain the biography, in addition to the report of the interrogatories and the historical study of the documents, as well as evidence that Peter Joseph Triest lived the Christian virtues in a heroic way.
Finally, on 5 June 2017, the Cause was entrusted to Relator General Fr. Vincenzo Criscuolo, O.F.M. Cap (photo), who will guide the process with the postulator from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
